£10,000 to help SMEs access competitive Research, Development and Innovation grants


The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) is offering small and medium sized businesses (SMEs)/consortiums up to £10,000 of grant funding to help companies access European and national competitive research grants.

For example, funding is available to assist bids for European Framework Programme Seven and Technology Strategy Board calls. Grants offered will be for 75% of application preparation costs up to a maximum of £10,000

Grants are available to SME's based in the East of England.  There is a very limited amount of grant funding available and will be offered on a first come, first served basis - subject to assessment and approval.

The project must be in the final stages of preparation (i.e project idea developed and consortium in place) and applications will need to demonstrate that there is a need for extra professional assistance in completing the proposal for submission.

The proposal must be submitted this financial year (before 31st March 2010) in response to an imminent call deadline under a relevant programme

Applications will need to demonstrate

  • a strong business case 
  • the regional economic benefits to the region
  • how the project relates and delivers against  the Regional Economic Strategy, in particular the innovation agenda .
  • that the project has a good quality consortium.
  • that the project is in its final stages a clear project plan with with responsibilities has been developed.
  • the quality and relevance of the project to the region
