Funding available: Typically, VCs invest in businesses with a minimum investment need of £2m although many smaller regional VC organisations may invest from £50k.  Like business angels, venture capitalists can bring a wealth of expertise to your business.

Who is it for? Typically venture capital investments are made for the launch, early development or expansion of a business.  It usually has a particular emphasis on entrepreneurial undertakings rather than on mature businesses.

Businesses need:

• To be high growth businesses with competitive products or services
• a solid and stable management team, with a transparent structure
• solid management procedures already in place
• agreement on the investors exit strategy.
